- Title: Library Assistant
- The Library Assistant is responsible for direct patron interaction (computer assistance, printing and copying, circulation desk), and the physical maintenance of the collection (check in, check out, shelving)

Hiring Requirements

- Knowledge: This position requires a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service; familiarity with commonly used technologies; basic computer skills to include internet searching, using e-mail, and Microsoft Word; the ability to conduct accurate monetary transactions; familiarity with classic and popular literature; the ability to establish and correctly maintain effective and proper working relationships with the staff and the public; the ability to effectively and properly communicate ideas both orally and in writing.
- Education: High school diploma/GED required, some college preferred.
- Experience: Minimum six months of library or customer service experience preferred.
Essential Duties

- Performs circulation-related activities.
- Assists patrons in locating and using library resources.
- Answers questions from patrons.
- Maintains the order and appearance of the library and library resources.
- Troubleshoots minor equipment problems.
- Will maintain proper hygiene, meet system dress code, maintain regularly scheduled hours, arrive prepared to work when scheduled, arrive on time, keep accurate record of hours worked, and will report to their respective library (as assigned) when scheduled. Working from home is limited
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.

- The Library Assistant will receive an annual evaluation from the Library Director.
