The Halifax County - South Boston Regional Library is the best place to find the
information you need. The card catalog is on computer and contains the holdings of the
Halifax and South Boston libraries plus the Bookmobile. Forms are available if you wish to
borrow a book from one of the other libraries.
Special events - Read the local paper, listen to the
local radio station, or check back at this website frequently for special events to be
held at your local library.
Library Cards - To receive a library card, you must be at least 6 years
of age and have an identification number plus proof of current address. There is no charge
to obtain a library card, however, there is a $2.50 charge for a replacement card. Please
notify the library if your card is lost or stolen or if you have a change in name or
address. Remember, your card is good at all branches of the Regional Library.
Check-out - You are responsible for all library
materials checked out on your card. Materials may be returned in the outside book or video
return when the library is closed. You can call or renew your materials online.

Story Time for children ages 3 to 9 is held from 7:00-7:30
P.M. at Halifax on Monday and at the same time on Thursday at South Boston.
Public Access Computers - Both Halifax and South
Boston Libraries have public access computers which were donated by The Bill and Melinda
Gates Foundation. Each library has a special children's computer which does not have
access to the internet. There is no fee to use the computers. All patrons must sign the
Rules of Usage contract at the front desk. Patrons aged 12 to 15 years may use the
computers unsupervised only if the library has written permisson from the child's parent
or guardian on file. Patrons under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all
times while using a computer! Before using the computers, patrons must sign in at the
front desk. Each patron who signs in will be allowed 30 minutes to use the computer.
