ART AT THE LIBRARY FOR JULY 28 HAS BEEN CANCELED. THE PROGRAM WILL RESUME ON THE SECOND THURSDAY IN AUGUST.
INFORMATIVE PROGRAMS ABOUT CANCER
Knowledge is power in the fight against cancer. Learn about ealry detection and treatment options at two upcoming programs at the Halifax Public Library. On August 4 at 6:30 pm Melanie Vaughan, Coordinator of the Cancer Research and Resource Center of Southside Virginia and Danville, will present the program "Early Detection Saves Lives: Stop Cancer in Its Tracks!" Then on August 16 at 6:30 pm Camille Younger, a Susan G. Komen Ambassador, will present the program "Breast Cancer: What You Need to Know." Both programs will be held at the Halifax Public Library and both are free and open to the public.

UPCOMING FINE/FEE CHANGES
The following changes will take place to the library's schedule of fines and fees on September 6, 2016:
- All items that currently have a per day overdue fine amount of .15 cents will have a per day overdue fine amount of .20 cents.
- The per page cost for black and white photopcopies and printouts will go from .15 cents to .20 cents, while the per page cost for color copies and printouts will go from .50 cents to .75 cents.
- All items that currently have a maximum overdue fine limit of $5.00 will be raised to $6.00.

The Tea & Book Discussion Club meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 2:30 pm at the Halifax Public Library.
GET READY FOR SUMMER READING: THE ART OF READING
The library will be offering lots of great programs and events this summer. Familiar favorites, such as Art @ the Library and Art for Adults, will continue during the summer. Adult Crafts will expand to include both the Halifax and South Boston libraries. There will be reading logs available for kids and adults, along with prizes for our readers and programs for all ages, from young children to adults.
Children's author Chris Woodworth will be speaking at the Halifax Public Library on July 21 at 3 pm. This will be a great program for tweens, teens, and adults.
