Halifax County South Boston Public Library System
The library recently received the Outstanding Public Relations Project award from the Virginia Public Library Directors Association. The award was for the "Seats with a Story" fundraising event in December 2016.
The library wishes to thank the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region for a grant in the amount of $3,000. The grant will be used to enhance the library's 2017 Summer Reading Program.

Kelly Cherry, former Poet Laureate of Virginia will be reading selections from her latest work, Quartet for J. Robert Oppenheimer, on April 27 at 6:30 pm at the South Boston Public Library. Light refreshments will be served, there will be door prizes, and Ms. Cherry will be selling and signing copies of her works.
Join us for an evening with local artist and author Ron Miller on May 16 at 7 pm at the South Boston Public Library. Mr. Miller's presentation is entitled "The Seven Wonders of the Solar System."
Join the library's Tea and Book Discussion, held on the third Tuesday of every month at 2:30 pm at the Halifax Public Library. The book for May is Teatime for the Firefly by Shona Patel.
